Why I Hate 20SIX
|
Personal Opinions
Why is it that when one holds forth (as I often do) about certain subjects - immediate castigation is the flavour of the moment. I express an opinion (my own) about 20six (I repeat they are my personal views) and there is an immediate rising up and attempted beating with sticks because I commit such a heinous crime as to express any opinion (mine remember) as to the way 20six now functions and as to how much of my exisiting blog was - to be blunt - fucked up by the change of platform. I have written to support and can report that responses from that are no better than when the previous platform was running - so no change there then. Now before the pointed sticks are sharpened again, I'd like to make a statement. I don't mind people expressing their differing views to me. Good for you. But please take note that whilst I may disagree with you I will fight for your right to have your views (yes I know it's a paraphrased quote) I would merely request to be treated in a similar fashion. However it would seem, within the blogshpere we inhabit, opposing opinions are oft not tolerated. Sad times PS: Warum haben wir noch so viel Deutsch sprache hier?

Has someone been castigating you? I won't be - I've put my blog elsewhere.

Of course you're free to state your opinions. Just like others are free to state theirs. My opinion is that if you don't like it here then your time would be better spent by moving elsewhere and stopping all the complaining here, but like I say - that's just my opinion. *shrugs*

IceCreamMan. I have ignored precsicley zero customer support queries, so if it didn't get a response please feel free to send again, as I haven't got it, or would have seen to it, like I have hundreds of other ones.

OK I have resent the last mail which went today and I sent it to

The others I haven't kept I'm afraid but they were basically the same as the one I have just resent

Icecreamman, I'm not even sure if that is an e-mail address we have, can you send it through to me, or use the form which is linked from the bottom of the help pages?

Ice-cream man's been here since June 2003 - before he moves on, I think he's entitled to continue to grump for a while on his blog. It's still his blog to be grumping on and he's bound to feel let down by 20six for what's happened to it as a result of the move.

You whinge all you like. However I'd like to point out that I was agreeing with you even if it didn't come across like that.Katja likes the new platform and Pete's doing his very best to offer support for it. Personally (like Oink) I don't like it. About 70% of the blogs I used to visit regularly also don't like it and many of these have either shut down or moved on. Often to the same place. On the other hand 20six hasn't cost me a penny and I can quite safely say that I've got considerably more than my money's worth out of it in the last year. Although I hate the majority of the changes and really don't have a clue about why they were made I've got to support people for staying. The community on 20six has always been the best thing about it and I hope that it doesn't fall apart.

Why? Any of us are allowed to vent our disappointment with the way things have turned out. It's a bit much to ask that anyone who doesn't like it can shut up and just pack - you get attached to a place. I don't blog here now myself but I still read others' blogs and I'm still disappointed that I don't feel I can do my own.

For your interest Amillionpieces that link comes from a page presently on your site http://my.20six.co.uk/ap/users.icecreamman/impressum.php?session_id=1a6&blog_id=19100

Icecreamman - your links are duff and you might want to consider that Pete is actually doing a really good job. He only works for 20six and has worked very hard on it recently.

As I actually cut and pasted them FROM the 20six website on pages which come up when I am logged in to my blog I can assure you they are NOT duff.
May I suggest that you try the following before firing from the hip.
1: Login to your blog
2: on the first page scroll to the very bottom where you will find two links below the copyright symbol.
the links are marked;
about us / T&Cs
Click about us,scroll that page down and surprise surprise there you'll find
"support@20six.co.uk".
And before getting heated that it doesn't appear to relate to anything to do with my gripes, Support is what the old address was for contacting 20six. And it seems logical that it's still an active address if it appears on the website does it not?

I've done that and see what you mean. There's no getting around the fact that your links are duff, though. If I had to go and create my own according to new instructions - I do so hate to fire from the hip but here it does - yours are duff and you should have given the instructions in the first place. I presume you didn't as you didn't know they were duff. Duff duff duff.

ie duff to anyone not logged into your blog. If on the other hand you wish to give us your login details, we'll take a look at your otherwise duff links.

Besides which, I think you should calm down before you melt your doodahs. You'll want them all nice and frozen in weather like this.

Oink is correct. the links are duff, as they refrence your login session. I'm gonna ask to have this changed, but as you still haven't e-mailled me, despite being told thats how you can contact me, I don't see what else I'm supposed to do. I can only do so much and can't fix what I don't know of.

I'm sorry that I have a life outside of blogging and don't reply to stuff immediately.
I pointed out that the links were on the site and suddenly it's my fault for using them without knowing they're wrong.
Sheesh.
Forget it ok?
I resent being told that links are duff as if it's my fault when they clearly were generated by 20six's system.
I even told you how to generate them from your own log in session, but no, apparently it's MY links that are duff.
Thank you for your aprobation.

I feel suitably chastised. Some would say whipped, but I say chastised. This is the blog of chastisement, indeed!

You know, at times helping on support feels like some wierd sado-masochistic ritual or something...

Strangely enough (although you probably won't believe it) I run a help desk for, and deal with people who make me seem like level headed, easy going golden angel!
And as for sado-masochism which do you prefer?
Are you top or bottom or switch?
I'm just intrigued as I am absolutely sure I can direct you to people who can help you sate your desires in those directions.

What about in other directions? I've heard of money slaves on Lipgloss's blog - I'd like to get me one of those.

I don't need a partner, IceCreamMan, I mean, when you can self-flagellate and help on customer support, who needs whips and masks, huh?

I don't like the way you've shut off comments to the new entry above, Mr IceCream. It means I can't be as helpful as I was about to be otherwise. Ah well.
|
The Icecreamman
(20.6.06 16:07)
I havent shut off comments otherwise how could you be commenting?
And as for self flagellation, it never quite packs the same impact as a that thrown down by a sadistic Dom.

Sorry this is off-topic: I wasn't going to bother commenting until I realised the spam-guard picture said "rough". I think the system may be making its own comments...
